Florida Hospital Celebration Health is a 61-acre medical center located in Osceola County, Florida. The facility serves 237 hospital beds with over 300,000 square feet of medical offices and an advanced surgical training facility at The Nicholson Center for Surgical Advancement.
Florida Hospital engaged the engineers of Appian Engineering to redesign the campus master plan in 2007. This included relocating several large lakes (including the stormwater system), engineering a new master utility system, updating transportation models, and designing the new emergency helipad.
The facility was in the Celebration Development of Regional Impact (DRI) which has been converted to the Celebration Planned Development through Osceola County. The master infrastructure system is funded and controlled by the Enterprise Community Development District (CDD). Reedy Creek and the South Florida Water Management System share jurisdiction over stormwater permitting. Utilities from the CDD are ultimately provided through the Toho Water Authority. Additionally, the Central Florida Expressway Authority uses portions of the Celebration Health facility for access, utility service, and stormwater management.
Appian coordinated with these municipalities and various jurisdictional entities to lead the horizontal design development team through the complex entitlement process. We are proud of the success achieved, and we continue to work with Florida Hospital as it adds beds and square footage to increase the capacity of the facility to better serve the community.
